Measure the operating sequence

A timing analyzer records when individual contacts open and close. Comparing poles and previous test results can reveal changes in operating behavior. Results should be assessed against the breaker manufacturer’s limits.

Look beyond timing alone

Contact resistance, travel measurements and coil current traces can add context to timing results. Operating mechanism condition, auxiliary supply voltage and test setup may influence the measurements.

Plan safe and repeatable testing

Confirm isolation, earthing and the stored-energy state before testing. Record operating conditions and instrument setup to make future comparisons meaningful. Corrective actions should follow a qualified engineering assessment.

Connect knowledge with the right solution

Discuss the asset, operating history and testing objectives with an engineer before selecting a test scope or instrument.
